DRUGGISTS CAUGHT SELLING FILTERED RIVER WATER LABELED AS DISTILLED WATER

“COMPLAINTS AGAINST DRUGGISTS”

“Many complaints have been received by the Health Department recently from physicians that druggist were in the habit of selling filtered Croton (river water) in place of distilled water. The complaining physicians say that the effects of medicines ordered to be taken in distilled water have in many cases been neutralized by this action of the druggists. The matter was referred to Dr. Cyrus Edson, who procured 25 samples of “distilled water” from that number of drug stores and had them tested. The result was that 21 out of the 25 samples proved to be filtered Croton water. The result of the investigation was reported yesterday to President Bayles, and was by him referred to the counsel of the department to prepare the papers to prosecute the delinquent druggists.”

The pure waters at Bedford Springs and Cresson, Pennsylvania attracted many health seekers…

“Another prominent resort is Bedford Springs. The Springs are reputed to possess curative properties of a high order, and of themselves attract many visitors, but the natural beauties of the place are sufficient to keep Bedford green in the memory of any one who is has at any time paid it a visit.

Cresson claims the possession of the highest pure spring water in the world. The water is so free from impregnations that it more closely resembles distilled water than any other known. Cresson is located on the table land of the Alleghany Mountians, in the midst of a magnificent grove, at an elevation of 2,300 feet above tidewater. The beauty of the place and the virtue of its waters are attractions powerful enough to fill an enormous hotel during the Summer season.”

ANTIQUE DISTILLED WATERS SURVIVAL TESTIMONIAL: 13 DAYS AT SEA

11 Stranded Sailors Make Themselves a Homemade Distiller Out of Scrap Parts

“”The fresh water was entirely gone, and the men would have famished from thirst if they had not rigged up a condenser, something after the manner of a steamer’s condenser, by using a piece of pipe and an old oil-can. By this means they managed to distill sufficient fresh water to keep them alive.”

DISTILLED WATERS TESTIMONIAL: NEW YORK TIMES REPORTS DISTILLED WATER INJECTIONS HAILED AS A CURE!!!!!!

“He Tells Homeopathic Society of Treatment for Rheumatism, Neuralgia, Asthma.”

“The injection of from fifteen to seventy-five drops of distilled water in the vein of a patient has been efficacious in the treatment of asthmas, hay fever, neuralgia, rheumatism and other diseases, according to D. William J. Schatz, director of the Physio-Therapy Department of the Sacred Heart Hospital at Allentown, PA, who lectured last night at a meeting of the Homeopathic Medical Society of the County of New York at the New York Academy of Medicine, 2 East 103rd Street.

“Dr. Schatz spike on “Non-Specific Therapy Simplified to Meet the Needs of the General Practitioner.” He was introduced by Dr. Marshal W. McDuffie, President of the society, who said the treatment advocated by Dr. Schatz had been effectively used in cases where it was thought operations were necessary.

“Dr. Schatz explained that for years almost an endless variety of substances, proteins, and the like, were used by injection in the treatment of the disease. He said they failed, however, to protect against disease. This is one of the reasons, he said, they were called non-specific agencies, and the therapy non-specific therapy. Among the more commonly used proteins were milk, various blood serums, killed bacteria, and the like, he said.

“Dr. Schatz showed that these agents temporarily intensified the disease in which the proteins were used, but this manifestation was followed by a change in the direction of recovery or complete recovery. He said he entertained the idea that since this puzzling array of substances did this, probably all substances would act in a similar manner, even water.

“He said he experimented with distilled water and he was convinced from the results that injection of distilled water would help if not cure entirely many diseases. He declared any practitioner can use this form of treatment.

“He emphasized that injection of water is not followed by discomfort or even by any intensification of symptoms. He said the treatment is entirely safe, and is far more rapid in action than the usual agencies used for injection in the treatment of disease.

“Dr. Schtz used lantern slides illustrating his lecture and gave the results obtained in the treatment of specific cases. Dr. L. F. Cocheu, Dr. P. J. R. Schmahl, Dr. Linn J. Boyd and Dr. Leon Goldberg took part in the discussion which followed.”
